Excellent performances by the Burnside High School Volleyball teams who competed in the Canterbury Volleyball Champs held March 19 and 20.

The Senior A girls team have continued their winning streak named Canterbury  Senior Division I Girls' winners for the fourth consecutive year. They have held the title since 2013. What an amazing weekend of Volleyball for Burnside. With the Girls A team finishing up 3rd over all after losing to the tough serving Aranui in the Semi Final.

The Junior Boys team went one better making the final. This is the first time that I can remember that a Junior Boys team has ever done this well. They were also riddled with injuries and still managed to produce a stunning game taking the eventual champions St Thomas into a 3rd set.

Very proud of all the teams that took part. There is definitely reason to be excited looking ahead after all three year 9 teams produced good results and grew over the tournament.

Congratulations to players that made there respective tournament teams.

Div 1 Girls

Shelly Loto, Chloe Mikaera, Tsubasa Nisbet

Div 1 Boys

Sam Bargh, Jake Ceelen-Thomas

Div 2 Girls

Katie Williamson, Hannah Williamson

Lastly a HUGE thanks to all of the Senior students that assisted with coaching over the weekend. You were amazing!!!! Jesse Kempf (boys coach) what an amazing result well done and thanks for your hard work and passion for the sport.
