There are two ways of updating Forums, one for each type of forum on this site. These instructions are for the News Forum, which comes standard on all Academic course pages and is linked up to a standard block called 'Latest News'.

It looks like this (with Page Editing Turned Off):

How to Add a News or Discussion Topic:

  • Click on the News Forum (it's usually at the top of your course page, in the first rectangular box.
  • Click on the 'Add a New Topic' Box.
  • Type in your Subject and Message in the boxes.
  • Scroll to the bottom of the page and click: "Post to Forum"

How to Change the Name of Your Forum:

  • Click the 'Turn Editing On' button.
  • Click on the pencil next to your Forum.
  • On the next screen, change the name and introduction (if you like) of your forum.
  • Scroll to the bottom of the screen and click 'Save and Return to Course'.


How to Delete Your Forum:

  • Click the 'Turn Editing On' button.
  • Click on the red 'X' next to your forum.
  • NOTE: The Forum will reappear if you do not also delete the 'Latest News' Block (also using its red 'X'). So you will need to do this first.
