You can add user blogs?

But like who the heck's gonna come through and read these things? Why is this even a thing? Oh well in case you stumbled across this, hello there. Go listen to Vivaldi's winter. Even if it ain't winter. Here's the link:

Oh also have a nice poem:

Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

And you, my father, there on the sad height,
Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light

-Dylan Thomas

Have a good day, stranger,

Aaron Loh.

We have Oarsome O'Fare coming up next Friday!

It is a really important fundraiser for the rowing squad - and a really fun evening even if you are just watching the auction chaos and having a few nibbles!

My Nation: The Allied States of Walkville

Current Category: Inoffensive Centrist Democracy

This means: We are a Democracy, which means people have voting rights. Inoffensive means we don't upset anyone else. Centrist means we are neither very left wing (high taxes, big government) or right wing (low taxes, small government), but in the middle.

We spend the most on (see Government stats): Education (yes!) 30%

My latest decision is about: A local minority group wanting their language recognised as official. My choices are:

1. Dismiss the demonstration and encourage the speaking of one language only.

2. Choose multilingualism - many languages policy.

3. Invent a completely new language for Walkville to unify the country.

I'm tempted to go with option two, just to see what will happen. I don't imagine it will be that great for the economy, but I like the idea of people being free to speak their own languages.

The effect of my last decision was: There have been reports of people marrying housepets. This was after I ignored requests to restrict marriage to one man and one woman.

My feelings about that are: Well, that's a very strange outcome. But my Civil Rights are up to Excellent, so it can't be all bad.

What I like best about my nation: Civil Rights are Excellent, but I also have built up my Economy to Strong through cutting taxes.

What I like least about my nation: There is a lot of weirdness is my description. Including this sentence: "a large, devout nation, remarkable for its irreverence towards religion". I don't really understand how it can be devout and irreverent, since they are basically opposites.

My Nation: The Allied States of Walkville

Current Category: Scandinavian Liberal Paradise

This means: The Scandinavian countries are reknown for their big government, high equality, high taxes approach. Liberal means there are lots of freedoms and the government helps people out.

We spend the most on (see Government stats): Welfare (31%)

My latest decision is about: The amount of Democracy in my nation. My choices were:

1. Execute political protestors

2. Allow opposition parties and greater democracy.

I chose option 2, because I thought this might improve my political freedoms, which have been low.

The effect of my last decision was: The government is cutting back on the number of political prisoners executed each year.

My feelings about that are: This is good and has lead to my nation improving.

What I like best about my nation: Civil Rights are excellent, which is great.

What I like least about my nation: After some difficult times, it's all good now! All the trends are improving.

My Nation: The Allied States of Walkville

Current Category: Corrupt Dictatorship (What a disaster!!!)

This means: We are Corrupt, which means the government keeps money to itself. We are a Dictatorship, which means rule by one person. I'm not sure exactly how this happened, but I am very disturbed by it!

We spend the most on (see Government stats): Welfare (30%)

My latest decision is about: Freedom of Speech - has it gone too far? My choices are:

1. Allow citizens to be beaten up for speaking rubbish.

2. Encourage greater freedom of speech.

3. Allow freedom of speech, but not the mockery of others for their religious beliefs.

I've decided to choose option 2, because in my country I want to discourage violence and major on civil freedoms, of which freedom of speech is one of the most important.

The effect of my last decision was: I refused to make a law saying TV shows must include ethnic minorities. As a result, the "alarmingly racist TV show 'Bigtopians Say the Darndest Things' is a hit".

My feelings about that are: Well, I'm not that happy about it, because it sounds like a pretty racist show. But I didn't want to tell the TV networks what they had to make shows about.

What I like best about my nation: My nation seems to have gone downhill lately, which is a bit depressing. But Civil Freedoms are still rated 'Very Good', which pleases me.

What I like least about my nation: A Corrupt Dictatorship is the worst form of government there is!! Here's the description: "the dictatorship government, which ensures that no-one outside the party gets too rich." Things have to change!! I'm ramping up the number of issues I face per day (under the Settings menu), to try and bring some positive change.

Anyone in the world

This is a blogging exemplar for you to follow as we work through the Nation States game. Use the bold bits as your headings when you post.

My Nation: The Allied States of Walkville

Current Category: Democratic Socialists

This means: We are Democratic, which means people have voting rights. The Socialists bit means the Government plays a big part in the economy.

We spend the most on (see Government stats): Welfare

My latest decision is about: Police Numbers. I need to decide what to do about increased crime rates in my nation. My choices are:

1. Hire more police

2. Increasing funding to combat the causes of crime (poverty and poor education)

3. Harsher punishments for crime, including public floggings (whippings)

I've decided to choose option 2, because I think that's the best way to fight crime in the long run. Also, according to my nation's description, crime is unheard of at the moment, so this doesn't sound like a major issue for my people.

The effect of my last decision was: Harry Potter has become a best seller in my nation.

My feelings about that are: Although not a Harry Potter fan myself, I'm fine with that.

What I like best about my nation: The description says that we are an "environmentally stunning nation". I like the idea that my nation is clean and green.

What I like least about my nation: The "average income tax rate is 40%, but much higher for the wealthy". Those are pretty high tax rates and likely to stop my country developing as fast as I would like.
