CROSS COUNTRY AND ROAD RACE
What teams and competitions are there and for who: Students compete in their year levels at the school championships; then move into Canterbury age grades (Year 9; Junior - U16 and Senior - Over 16) at the Canterbury Secondary School Championships. At National level there is also a Year 9 grade and a junior (U16) and Senior (O16) grade. The National Cross Country takes place in June and in 2017 will take place in Christchurch. The National Road Race takes place in December with the National Secondary Schools Athletics Championships.
Uniform: When competing for Burnside High School, Year 9 and 10 students may wear their PE uniforms (and substitute plain black shorts for their green shorts if they wish) and Years 11, 12 and 13 must wear the green BHS singlet with plain black or green shorts. ALL students MUST wear the school tracksuit, which can be hired from the Sports Office.
Registration: Keep an ear / eye on the student notices and here. Top 6 finishers in their grade at school cross country will be given Road Race information notices after the school cross country.
