    Golf is well represented out Burnside High School having won multiple Canterbury and National championships. Golf is not part of the weekly inter-school competition but there are plenty of tournaments and championships throughout the year for students to compete in.

Burnside High School defended their Canterbury Secondary Schools title by a slim margin.  The team of Juliana Hung, Amelia Garvey, Hiroki Miya and Hayato Miya went into the tournament as not only defending Canterbury champions but also national champions having won the title in 2016.  At the end of the 18 holes both Burnside High School and the Christchurch Boys High School team of Tom Parker, Ben Baker, Tiaki Ogilvie and Kansuke Shin were tied on a score of 224, the three best counting scores from each team.  The winner is determine by the non-counting score and on this occasion Burnside High School won on a countback by one shot.  

Juliana Hung anchored the Burnside High School Team shooting a round of 72.

The Burnside High School Team will travel to Hawkes Bay in September to defend their title at the NZ Secondary Schools Championship.

Burnside HS Golf Team

The Burnside High School winning team from 2015 have repeated the winning performance again in 2016.  The team of Amelia Garvey, Juliana Hung and brothers Hiroki Miya and Hayato Miya dominated the event with a strong performance at the Canterbury Secondary Schools Championship played at the McLeans Island Golf Club.  Hayato Miya was the new comer to the team at just 12 years of age playing off a six handicap.  Amelia Garvey and Juliana Hung both played solid golf shooting 74 along with Hiroki Miya who had the third ...

Canterbury Secondary Schools' Golf Champs 2014

These are being held at the Templeton Golf Club, on Monday 17 March.

There are Teams and Individual events to take part in.

Entries close:  Wednesday 12 March, so please see Mrs Taylor in the Sports Office urgently if you are keen to play - either in a team, or as an individual.

Remember - you must hold a current NZ Golf handicap.
