    Schools’ tennis takes place on Wednesdays in Term 1 and 4. Tennis is run by School Sport Canterbury. Matches are played at schools and club courts, commencing at 3.00pm. Students compete in teams of four in the various grades ranging from year 9 through to premier grades. Students wear their own PE uniform and supply their own tennis racquets. 

    Tennis students can compete as teams in a one-day qualifying competition to qualify for the South Island Secondary Schools Tournament. This is done in the first weeks of term 1.

    Senior Canterbury Secondary Schools Champs are held later in term 1 with Junior Secondary School Champs held in term 4. Students can compete individually or as a team at Canterbury champs.

    Each team consists of 4 players. Premier grade and Division 1 matches consists of 4 singles and 2 doubles games. Division 2 & 3 matches consist of 2 doubles games only. Points are awarded as follows: 1 point for each game 3 points for the match Total: 9 points 

    All matches are self-umpired.
