The Year 12 Geography classes had a great time experiencing physical and human geography in the field at the Mackenzie Basin and Aoraki Mt. Cook.

As part of the large natural environment topic - students learn about glacial, climatic, tectonic and vegetation processes and consequently, the landforms. Furthermore, geographers factor in the change caused by humans. Students consider the impacts of activities such as farming, tourism, recreation, settlement and hydro-electricity production in the region.

Highlights of the trip included walking the full Hooker Valley track and the 'Glacier Explorers' boat excursion.

Thanks to the accompanying staff and students for making this such a fun and rewarding experience! Huge thanks also to all of the experts that helped us in the field.
