STP is a partnership between Burnside High School and a local
tertiary provider. It is for students working towards NCEA Level
2 or Level 3, who have a clear vocational pathway. On offer in
2020 are courses in business and retail, engineering and
architecture, outdoor education and sustainability, cookery,
creative industries, food and hospitality, tourism, hair and
beauty, trades - carpentry, electrical, automotive, and
agriculture, animal care, equine, farm skills,
Students attend Burnside High School for 3-4 days each week and the Tertiary Provider - Ara, National Trade Academy, Avon City Ford - on the other day/s. At school, STP students' subject choices are based on individual need: either a range of subjects of their choice, or a specific programme that provides numeracy, literacy, lifeskills, work readiness, and health and wellbeing.
So that you understand more about the programme both at the
training provider and at school, plus our expectations of STP
students, a meeting has been arranged for Tuesday, 3 September,
7-8 pm in the Burnside High School Staffroom.
The Divisional Deans, HOD Careers, and a member of the Senior Leadership Team will be there. There will be a short presentation and an opportunity to ask questions. Application Forms will be available on the evening, as places fill quickly at the training institutions.
We encourage potential students and whānau to attend this meeting, which we plan to be informative and short. Younger family members are welcome.
If you wish to attend, could you please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org with a simple Yes or No, and the number in your group, to help us prepare for the evening.
