Burnside High School will be closed for Teacher Only Day (TOD) on Thursday 14 November for the entire day.
I realise that we previously indicated that, as a result of the decision to close the school for students and staff to attend the National Remembrance Service on Friday 29 March, our Teacher Only Day scheduled for Term 4 was likely to be cancelled.
However, after careful consideration and under Section 65D of the Education Act 1989, the Minister of Education has since agreed to our request that we no longer be required to make up an extra day by the end of the year.
Therefore, we are now in a position to hold our planned TOD this term, as per our BHS calendar and posted online all year. Thank you for your understanding and support with this decision.
On Teacher Only Day, the teaching staff will complete preparations for the Junior School's Collaborative Learning Week (Thursday 28 November to Wednesday 4 December). As this is the first time we have undertaken a collaborative programme of this scale (i.e. involves all Year 9 and 10 students), we are hoping it will be highly successful.
The library will be available on Thursday 14 November for independent study if necessary.
