Dear Parents

SCHOOL ACTIVITY DONATION

The government provides operational funding to enable us to run the school and deliver the

curriculum to our students. Like most Boards, however, each year we ask parents to pay a specified sum of money, which will enable the Board to provide additional services of direct benefit to students. These contributions are an important source of revenue for Burnside High School and are used to pay for computers for student use, data projectors to enhance teaching, sports and recreational equipment, library books, audio visual and other classroom equipment. The contributions are classified as donations and can be claimed as a tax credit.

Collection of the contributions, as well as the Parent Teacher Association donation (see below), will be collected along with the subject fees.

Each year, the support of Burnside High School parents helps us to achieve our goal of meeting the needs of our students.

Contributions will ideally be collected in the week 7 MARCH – 11 MARCH 2011 and individual accounts will be sent home by FRIDAY 25 FEBRUARY 2011. Please do not pay before!

To assist parents with planning, a schedule of relevant amounts for 2011 is printed below and over the page:

SCHOOL ACTIVITY DONATION:

T his is an annual contribution that contributes to the costs of education, cultural, sporting and social activities; the school magazine; certain items of capital expenditure and other such items that the Board of Trustees deems to be in the interest of students. This is the Board’s suggested contribution and is classified as a donation, which can be claimed as a tax credit.

· $160.00 for one student

· $250.00 for two students from the same family

· $350.00 for three or more students from the same family

student id card:

$7.00 per student

STUDENT PLANNER (DIARY):

$8.00 per student

WORKBOOKS:

It has been requested that students purchase workbooks for some of their subjects. Students who have received a workbook will show a charge for this in their school account.

PARENT TEACHER ASSOCIATION DONATION:

This levy was introduced by the PTA following a referendum in 1992 favouring a contribution in lieu of major fund raising. It is currently set at $30.00 per family but families wishing to contribute more are welcome to do so. This can also be claimed as a tax credit.

For the purpose of accounts, one will be written for each student member of the family. Amounts listed will total those written above.
