CPIT is holding a FREE EVolocity workshop for students interested in participating in the electric vehicles competition. The workshop provides an introduction to the world of electric vehicles, and the technology and thinking behind them.

CPIT EVolocity Workshop

Sunday 13 April, 9am-3pm - CPIT Wharenui (lunch is provided)

CPIT Madras Street Campus

This exciting new STEM event perfectly reflects CPIT’s expertise in hands-on learning and our enthusiasm for technology, innovation and sustainability.

The competition will be for teams of Christchurch secondary school students

At the workshop, there will be a launch of the EV Competition. Students will have the opportunity to try out a range of EVs including Yike Bikes and the Holden Volt. We’ll introduce them to the EV kit they’ll use to develop their own fully functioning electric vehicle and we’ll discuss things like aerodynamics, batteries, safety, vehicle testing and how to create sound effects that mimic those of a traditionally powered vehicle.

EVolocity will appeal to students who are interested in cars, robotics, sustainability, engineering and the practical application of maths and physics. Now is the time to get a team together and to register for the workshop.

To register for the workshop, or for more information please contact CPIT’s STEM co-ordinator: Miranda Satterthwaite – miranda.satterthwaite@cpit.ac.nz

Team registrations can be made through our partners at Electroflash.   Email Les Black via Les.Black@xtra.co.nz for more details.
