A group of Years 12 & 13 students spent nearly three weeks in Japan practising their Japanese and experiencing Japanese culture. We were hosted by Imakane, a small town in Hokkaido for ten days. During this time students stayed individually with Japanese families to maximize their chance of using the language. A variety of activities were organised for us such as tea ceremony, zazen meditation, Japanese music ‘koto’, traditional games, putting on kimono , oshibana, shrine visit, three different school visits, etc. The students learnt a great deal during the trip.
