As part of our Graduation process students at Burnside are asked to maintain excellent attendance, be a sensible and hard-working member of our school community and to also undertake some act of service that benefits the school. This year we decided to ask students to keep a log of the service that they have done so that we can acknowledge their efforts at graduation. Students receive a Silver Award for completing twenty hours of service, a Gold Award for thirty five hours and a Platinum Award for more than fifty hours. We have been delighted by the work that Year 13 students have done this year. In total we estimate that our students have done in excess of 10 000 hours of service or put another way two hundred and fifty 40 hour weeks of work to help our school. The work has involved academic mentoring of junior students, coaching sports teams, enhancing our school environment, running choirs and performance groups and many other valued contributions. Senior Division are delighted by such efforts that have made an enormous difference to the lives of many members of our school community. The photo shows Cam Gallie, Cassandra Watts, Luke Mansell, Jessie Chang, Zahra Shahtahmasebi, and Jesse Rogers who between them gave 1235 hours of service to the school this year. Well done and thank you to you all.
