Congratulations to Jessica Schofield 13HDC and Ethel Shen 9WJAE for their outstanding success in Auckland during the weekend at the National Finals of Global Issues Problem Solving NZ. The students were both placed first in their respective categories: Jessica in the Senior Individual and Ethel in the Middle Individual.
The topic for the finals was Land Transportation and the students researched widely in advance to find out about possible future challenges connected with this topic. In Auckland at the finals they were presented with a "Future Scenario" and they had to respond to this scenario under strict test conditions.
Jessica is well-known in GIPSNZ as she has attended the nationals a total of seven times, since first qualifying in Year 5. In addition, she competed internationally in 2012 and was placed first. Both girls have won places at the international competition in the USA in 2015.
Thanks to Jessica for her work this year coaching the Year 9 GIPS team and individuals.
