Our Senior lawn bowls students Emma Lloyd, Jake Bevan and Jake Lafaele placed 1st and 3rd= in the Canterbury Secondary School Lawn Bowls tournament. This led to the students being asked to represent NZ at the WW1 centenary celebrations at the Burnside Bowls Club.
The request was also made that if we had a school choir would they be able to sing. Of course this was an amazing opportunity for the BHS Senior Chorale - which is an audition only choir that has been well-represented in competitions throughout NZ - and they quickly learnt the national anthems for both Australia and NZ in 4-part harmony. The feedback from the chairman of the Canterbury RSA was that it was "the best rendition of the Australian National Anthem" that he had ever heard outside of Australia.
