A group of English Scholarship students travelled up to Auckland
to attend the annual writers festival from 11th - 12th May.
Students were treated to talks and workshops by world-renowned
writers including John Boyne, author of The
Boy in Striped Pyjamas; Michael
Grant, author of the Gone series;
Slam poets Omar Musa and Maxine Beneba Clarke; and British
philosopher Julian Baggini. Students also visited the George Grey
Rare Books Collection and saw first editions of Jane Austen,
William Blake and Dickens, Medieval Manuscripts, and
Shakespeare's First Folio. In the evening the group attended a
moving performance of To
Kill A Mockingbird at
The Civic Theatre.
